The Joint Admission Process (JAP) 2026 is the common WAT–PI process for admissions to selected programs at the newer IIMs. For the 2026–28 MBA, MBA-HRM and MBA-Business Analytics batches, JAP 2026 will be coordinated by IIM Raipur in collaboration with IIM Ranchi, IIM Trichy and IIM Kashipur.
For a CAT 2025 aspirant, this means one unified shortlist, one common interview process and four IIM options. Below is a detailed breakdown of the JAP 2026 admission process, based on official guidelines and FAQs, presented in a simple, news-style format for MyCollegeRoute readers.
1. What is JAP 2026 and who conducts it?
- JAP 2026 stands for Joint Admission Process 2026 for the new-generation IIMs.
- For the 2026–28 batch, JAP is centrally coordinated by IIM Raipur, with active participation from IIM Ranchi, IIM Tiruchirappalli and IIM Kashipur.
- The process covers shortlisted candidates for flagship MBA and specialised programs like MBA-HRM and MBA-BA at these IIMs.
Each IIM will still prepare its own final merit list using its weightages for CAT 2025 score, academic record, work experience and PI performance, but the shortlisting and interview round are conducted jointly through JAP.

3. Shortlisting for JAP 2026: who gets the call?
Shortlisting for JAP 2026 interviews is based primarily on the CAT 2025 score, along with other profile factors like academic performance, category and work experience, as defined above by participating IIM's.
- Only shortlisted candidates receive an official email invitation for JAP 2026.
- This email contains the JAP 2026 portal link, login ID and password, along with basic instructions and timelines.
If you don’t receive this mail, you are not in the JAP shortlist for that cycle.
4. Logging in to the JAP 2026 Portal
Once shortlisted, you must complete your registration on the JAP 2026 admission portal.
4.1 Login credentials
- Login ID and password are sent to the same email ID used for CAT 2025 registration.
- You cannot change your registered email ID or mobile number during JAP registration, so it is crucial to keep access to your CAT-registered email and phone.
4.2 Unable to login / forgot password
If you face any login issue:
- First, use the “Forgot Password” option on the portal to reset your password.
- If the problem continues, write immediately to jap2026@iimraipur.ac.in, clearly mentioning your CAT 2025 registration number, name and the exact error message/screenshot.
5. JAP 2026 Registration: key rules
- No registration fee is charged for JAP 2026. Registration on the portal is completely free of cost.
- During registration, your basic data from the CAT 2025 application will be displayed. You will be allowed to verify and, in some cases, update this information.
- Once you submit the final application, you cannot edit the form. No change requests are entertained post-submission, so review every detail carefully.
After successful submission, you will receive a confirmation email. If you don’t:
- Check your spam/junk folder.
- If there is still no mail, inform the coordinator at jap2026@iimraipur.ac.in.
6. PI Shortlisting & Interview Stage
After you submit the JAP 2026 form and verification is completed:
- Shortlisted candidates for the Personal Interview (PI) will receive a separate email with the interview schedule, mode (online/offline) and venue (if applicable).
- The same information will also be visible on the candidate’s login page on the JAP portal.
If you do not receive any such communication, it simply means you have not been shortlisted for the PI round.
7. JAP 2026 Helpdesk & Support
Before contacting the helpdesk, candidates are encouraged to:
- Read the complete FAQ and
- Use the online user guide on the portal.
If issues persist, you can contact the JAP 2026 Candidate Help Desk:

- The helpdesk is closed on Saturdays, Sundays and national/public holidays.
For email-based support on portal issues and confirmation status, write to: jap2026@iimraipur.ac.in.
8. What JAP 2026 means for your IIM strategy
For CAT 2025 test-takers, JAP 2026 is a crucial opportunity:
- One common process can lead to multiple IIM calls (Ranchi, Raipur, Trichy, Kashipur) for the 2026–28 batch.
- The quality of your application data, accuracy of academic and work-ex information, and performance in the PI round will directly impact your chances across all these IIMs.
To make the most of JAP 2026:
- Keep documents ready – mark sheets, degree certificates, category and PwD certificates, work-experience proofs.
- Fill the JAP portal carefully, double-checking percentages, dates and company details.
- Prepare seriously for the PI, as a single interview may be used by multiple IIMs in their final selection.
- Use platforms like MyCollegeRoute.com to compare cut-offs, fees, placements, ROI and specialisations across these IIMs and other B-schools, so you can plan your final preference list wisely.
9. In summary
The JAP 2026 admission process is a streamlined, technology-enabled gateway for CAT 2025 aspirants targeting IIM Ranchi, IIM Raipur, IIM Trichy and IIM Kashipur. With no registration fee, a centralised portal, and clearly defined rules for academics, work experience and category certificates, JAP 2026 makes the post-CAT journey more structured—but also more demanding in terms of accuracy and documentation.
If you understand the guidelines, prepare your documents accordingly, and use data-backed counselling platforms like MyCollegeRoute, JAP 2026 can become a powerful springboard into the IIM ecosystem for the 2026–28 MBA batch.
