TISSNET 2021

Tata Institute of Social Sciences conducts TISSNET 2021 which is a national level post graduate entrance exam. The exam is conducted for admissions to Masters in Social Work and related programs offered by Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS). TISSNET scores are accepted only by TISS Mumbai only. TISSNET 2021 will be conducted in online mode on January, 2021, and the results for shortlisted candidates will be announced on January, 2021.

TISSNET 2021 Eligibility Criteria

  • Graduates from any discipline with a recognized bachelor’s degree can apply for the application process for admissions in TISS Mumbai. The bachelor’s degree must be of a minimum of 3 years duration or its equivalent (under the 10+2+3 or 10+2+4 system).
  • Final year candidates, who will be able to complete their Bachelor's Degree examinations by June 2020, are also eligible to apply.

TISSNET 2021 Application Form

The application process was both online and offline, where eligible candidates can apply for a maximum of three programmes across any two of the TISS Campuses and other locations. 

  • Online process: Candidates can visit the official website, fill and submit the same along with the fee online only. Candidates have to fill up the TISSNET 2021 Application Form with the required details. Once the candidates had submitted the filled in applications, an email for verification had been sent, and the candidates had to verify the mail. After re-logging in, candidates could have edited the complete TISSNET 2021 Application Form and upload the necessary documents and certificates along with passport size photograph and signature.
  • Offline process: Candidates could get a printed copy of the application form from the Institute by sending a request by Speed Post with application fees to Assistant Registrar (Academic), Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Deonar Mumbai, 400088.

 The application fee to be paid by general category candidates for one programme was Rs 1030/-, and for SC/ST/OBC candidates was Rs 260/-

TISSNET 2021 Exam Pattern

The exam will be conducted on Jan 7 from 2pm to 3.40 pm in 39 centers. The test was a computer based test which had 100 objective questions to be answered within the duration of 1 hour 40 minutes & there was no negative marking for wrong answers in the test.

Admission Process after TISSNET 2021

Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) offers programmes with low fee structure. The final admission to TISS for different programmes happens in two stages and has three components of assessment. Out of the candidates who appear for the National entrance test (TISSNET), only short listed candidates are called for the Pre Interview Test and Personal Interview.(PIT/PI) based on the performance in the TISSNET examination. Following are the 3 assessment parameters for final selection

  • TISSNET 2021 exam scores. Minimum qualifying TISSNET marks are 35%.

  • Pre-Interview Test/GD

  • Personal Interview

Final Selection Weightage After TISSNET, GD & PI

  • Post TISSNET exam performance and GD & PI round, the merit list will be prepared on the basis of merit and the preferences indicated by the candidates at the time of filling up the TISSNET 2021 online application form. 
  • Based on the merit list for each programme, the list of selected candidates will be put up on the TISS website.
  • Each candidate will also receive his/her TISSNET 2021 score card indicating the marks for each component of the examination process.
  • The weightage for TISSNET 2021, PIT/GD and PI is as follows for the preparation of final merit lists for General as well as for Reserved Category candidates

Tie Breaker in Final Admission Post TISSNET

  • In case of a tie between two candidates, the marks scored in Personal Interview round will be compared.Candidate with more marks in PI will be considered
  • In case there is a tie in PI marks also, the PIT/GD marks will be compared and the one with more marks in PIT will be considered
  • In case there is a tie in PIT/GD marks also, the TISSNET 2021 Entrance test marks will be compared and the one with more marks in entrance test will be considered
  • In case there is a tie in Entrance marks too, the candidate higher in age will be offered  the seat
